Remember Calabar? oh yes! Normalcy and calm has returned to the city of Calabar after the long month 31 days December holiday and festivity that has continually placed this city on the world map of tourist destination.
It had been a series, of festivities, street
partying, parades, dance and cultural display which engulfed the city of Calabar
during the month of December like a wild unquenchable and unending wave of
excitement
Surprisingly Calabar two months
after have a calm atmosphere unbelievable for a visitor who had just witnessed
31 long days of festivities and had chosen to stay behind amidst visitors and
friends long gone back.
A visit to Marian and IBB way
show that activities in the paradise city are back to normalcy. No tell signs
of fancy décors and neon lights which usually adorned most streets and roundabouts
during the festive periods. Places like Watt market still has the atmosphere of
a typical Nigerian market, businesses are back at a slower pace as compared to
the festive period. Students return back to school, most streets of Calabar are
less busy; the foreigners are long gone, and the music? Even tuned down lower. This
is my Calabar a month after the festivities.
