Comedian Chris Rock was honored at the Variety Creative Impact Awards for his contribution to comedy, and the star made sure to give an acceptance speech that stood out.
"We're out here for - what are we out here for? The Variety Creative Impact Awards. But, you know, we're trolling for Oscar votes. Let's be honest," the comedian, said to a laughing audience. "We gotta pretend like, 'Yeah, I'm always out here. I like cactus. I'm out here.'"
The comedian is currently a possible Oscar contender for his comedy Top Five, which he wrote, directed and starred in. Further in his speech that sounded more like a campaign he said, "Comedies never get nominated," Rock said. "So I'm going to blatantly appeal to the voters. February 22 is my mother's birthday. 70th birthday. If I'm nominated, I will take her to the Oscars. If not, I will take her to Fatburge
